[00:00:27] Speaker A: If I want this to be a. [00:00:29] Speaker D: Holy week, what do I do? [00:00:31] Speaker E: I decide. [00:00:36] Speaker D: Have you ever wondered why the date. [00:00:38] Speaker C: Of Easter changes each year? [00:00:41] Speaker A: The church follows an ancient method that has to do with the moon and. [00:00:45] Speaker C: The start of spring. [00:00:48] Speaker A: Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon that comes on or after March 21st. The method was established at the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D. it was agreed that Easter should always come after the spring equinox and never fall on the same day as the Jewish Passover. The church uses a calendar based way. [00:01:17] Speaker D: Of calculating the date of that particular. [00:01:19] Speaker A: Full moon each year. That means the Church's Paschal full moon might be slightly different from the actual moon in the sky. [00:01:38] Speaker B: The Gospel today is the story of. [00:01:40] Speaker C: The Passion of Jesus. Each gospel is really a collection of stories about Jesus. And the story told most frequently and. [00:01:50] Speaker B: Earliest about Jesus was the story of. [00:01:53] Speaker C: The last 18 hours in his life. [00:01:57] Speaker B: The story of the way he died. [00:02:00] Speaker A: Somehow this summed up all that he. [00:02:03] Speaker D: Was and what he came to do. [00:02:06] Speaker A: And all that he said and stood for. [00:02:16] Speaker C: The reason why this story was the. [00:02:17] Speaker B: Heart of the Good News is because. [00:02:20] Speaker C: It is the good news of the victory of goodness over evil. [00:02:26] Speaker A: Jesus never promised that he would prevent all evil, sickness, tragedy or sin. [00:02:33] Speaker B: After all, he leaves us free. [00:02:37] Speaker D: But he did promise that he could. [00:02:39] Speaker C: Come to any evil situation of our. [00:02:41] Speaker B: Own or of someone else's doing, small. [00:02:45] Speaker D: Or great, and he could pull goodness. [00:02:48] Speaker E: And life out of it. [00:02:51] Speaker A: Jesus said that his goodness would be more powerful than any evil. [00:02:57] Speaker D: Well, if he could even go to. [00:02:59] Speaker B: Death on the cross. A senseless death at the age of 30 or so. [00:03:05] Speaker A: A humiliating, repugnant, awful death. [00:03:10] Speaker D: If he could go to the cross. [00:03:11] Speaker B: And pull life out of it, then. [00:03:14] Speaker C: The Good News is true. [00:03:16] Speaker A: He can come to any human situation. [00:03:19] Speaker E: And draw life out of it. [00:03:23] Speaker B: And so they told the story over. [00:03:26] Speaker A: And over again, long before the Gospels ever were written. [00:03:32] Speaker B: They told the story of the way he died. [00:03:35] Speaker A: And they ended that story with the announcement that he pulled life out of it, the announcement of the resurrection. [00:03:55] Speaker B: Spend some quiet time with the Lord.
